Job Description

We are currently expanding our Production Team. This role will be primarily focused on Molecular Interactions. It will suit scientists with industrial or research experience, who want to expand and develop their skills. The role offers the right individual an ideal opportunity to develop and grow within the company. We require highly motivated, dedicated and goal-oriented individuals who can work well alongside a team of like-minded scientists in a fast-paced and process-driven laboratory environment, to ensure timely delivery of high-quality reagents to our customers.

The candidate will have mastery of the department-specific Aptamer characterisation process and have excellent problem-solving skills. They will undertake a higher level of responsibility of Production Projects and documentation. They will also play an important role in identifying areas for process improvement, designing solutions for these, and implementing these changes. A Senior Production Scientist will take a leadership role within the lab, organising and planning the work of multiple team members, and ensuring completion of deadlines.

  • be able to work as part of a highly motivated team to deliver parallel customer projects against defined specifications, to a highly controlled timeline and well-defined processes

You should have a practical working knowledge of molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology or a related discipline and be able to support troubleshooting issues within the aptamer development processes

Responsibilities

  • Molecular Interaction
    • Perform Aptamer interaction studies using biophysical methods such as Bio-layer interferometry or ELISA.
    • Perform work according to appropriate Work Instruction.
    • Ability to troubleshoot issues that arrive in laboratory.
    • Ensuring project work aligns with SOW
    • Maintaining technical communication with customer in collaboration with Team Leader
    • Provide technical support and advice for upcoming and current aptamer selections.

    Continuous Process Improvements

    • Drive a continuous improvement culture within the Production Team.
    • Identify opportunities to increase effectiveness and efficiency in the processes.
    • Identify opportunities to reduce errors in the processes.
    • Design and carry out strategies to test and implement process improvements.

    Documentation

    • Maintain excellent documentation of laboratory work.
    • Prepare and present internal and external reports.
    • Create and review draft QMS documents.
    • Prepare revisions of existing QMS documents.
    • Documentation approval of other team members

    Leadership

    • Planning & organisation of workload of team members in collaboration
    • Managing of staff within team to achieve production goals in line with deliverables set by the Line Manager
    • Perform supervisory role of team members in the laboratory to ensure that processes are followed.

    • Training junior members of staff where appropriate
    • Excellent communication of project related issues with staff

Required Experience

  • The successful candidate will possess a PhD or have similar industry experience, ideally working in a bioscience development environment
  • Experience in biophysical affinity evaluation for the characterisation of macromolecules such as ELISA, Isothermal calorimetry, Surface Plasmon Resonance, Microscale thermophoresis or Bio-layer interferometry.
  • Experience in molecular biology techniques such as purification of DNA/RNA, PCR, and qPCR.
  • Experience in data analysis, handling, and interpretation
