Job Description

It is an exciting time for Aptamer Group; we are growing rapidly and are currently building our ‘Aptamer Production Team’. This role will be primarily focused on Cell culture for the aptamer selection process.

The role is a permanent position based at our state-of-the-art laboratories in York (UK). It would suit a Scientist with industrial or research experience, who wants to expand and develop their skills. This role offers the right individual an ideal opportunity to develop and grow within the company.

We require a highly motivated, dedicated and goal-oriented individual with a methodical approach to assay development, and both practical and organisational skills, to ensure timely delivery of customer and internal project goals.


  • Cell culture (including primary cell lines)
  • Implementation of target specific cell culture protocols
  • Oversee the cleaning and maintenance schedule
  • Maintenance of lab equipment, including FACS and Attune flow cytometer
  • Coordinate with lab team to order consumables and reagents
  • Maintenance of cell bank stock levels
  • Co-ordinate with selection team to plan cell culture and buffer preparation for selections
  • Perform cell assessments (including basic flow cytometry and antibody staining)
  • Prepare cell assessment data
  • Perform risk assessments for customer and internal projects
  • Training of junior team members

Required Experience

  • BSc in cell/molecular biology with additional experience (preferably industrial experience)
  • Mammalian cell culture with highly competent aseptic technique including primary cell culture
  • Experience working with multiple cell lines in parallel
  • Light and fluorescent microscopy
  • Basic experience with flow cytometry/ FACS
  • Experience with quality systems
  • Experience with LIMS systems
  • Good understanding of the health and safety requirements of a Category 2 laboratory
  • Experience in training junior team members
